What to expect from your newborn photography session
You will never feel rushed. My newborn sessions are completely led by baby; their needs come first above all else so if we need to spend the first hour or more just settling them, feeding, changing, burping, soothing then that's totally fine and very common! I often don't take a single photo for the first hour of your time with me as ensuring we have a happy baby is our first priority and it gives me the opportunity to get to know you and your baby so I am more aware of their natural cues during the session. Safety is so important when working with newborns so I will never rush baby or do anything that will make them uncomfortable. My sessions can last up to four hours (they have been known to be longer!) as I work completely at baby's pace. Once settled, I will then handle your baby in a way they are most happy with which could be naked, it could be wrapped and hopefully it will be a combination of the two, taking as many breaks as baby needs to stay settled and happy.
Not only do I dedicate the time to ensure baby is settled, I also go to great lengths to ensure parents are comfortable too. Your newborn session may well be the first time you have left the house since baby was born and likely the longest time someone else will have been holding your baby! This is why I want you to feel completely relaxed when you visit The Cabin, both in your own physical comfort level and also with me taking care of your precious little person.

It’s all about you
I will personally be taking care of you and your images from start to finish. It will always be me (Ali) answering your emails, facebook messages, calls and WhatsApps so you can be assured that any information you share with me is used in ways to benefit your experience. I will be taking your photos and engaging with you at your session (using family members to assist with the more complex images if necessary) and I will be personally editing each of your images with everything I've learnt about you and your baby in mind (such as angles you do and don't like about yourself or marks on your baby from birth you may or may not want to have shown). I want to be as involved in this whole pregnancy and baby process as much as you will let me!
Together we’ll bring together a colour palette that suits you, your baby and for display products; your home. I choose the colours of my wraps and blankets very carefully to create timeless, subtle imagery that keep baby as the focus. I love to use muted colour tones, woody textures and beautiful, handcrafted accessories so hopefully you do too! These are accompanied by handmade hairbands, bonnets, felt hearts, cuddly animals and beautiful wooden props that have been lovingly sourced from all over the world to create beautiful images. I am always adding to my collection too to keep your images fresh.
Your newborn photographer
Your experience and happiness with the service I provide you is my main goal; I want to become your official family photographer, your go-to, when you want to update your artwork or capture something special! From your pregnancy, to the treasured newborn session, when they start sitting up, their 1st birthday and all the celebrations beyond that – Mother’s Day, Christmas or simply 'just because'! I am very proud of the fact it’s rare I only get to photograph a family once and love welcoming people back to The Cabin!
I'm a Mum of 3 boys myself, so I've been where you are! Most clients that visit me find out all about my children during their session, because I'm just so proud of every little thing they do and want to share that with everyone I meet - the same way I'm sure you do with your little one, even in just these first few weeks! I love getting to know the families that visit me and I really enjoy hearing about their pregnancies, birth stories and the days since they've had their babies. Having experienced such different pregnancies, labours, feeding and day-to-day experiences with my own boys I'm also here for listening, empathising and well-meaning advice too.
When to book
I recommend booking your Lincoln newborn photography session when you have had your 20 week scan so we can pencil in a date around 7-10 days after your due date. Once your booking is received I will let you know your pencilled date as I can only book so many sessions per month to allow for flexibility in my diary - babies rarely arrive on their due date! Then, just let me know when your little bundle arrives and we can confirm your session, ideally within the first 10-14 days of baby’s life. If you are already past this date, or your baby has already arrived, please get in touch as hopefully we can schedule a suitable date for you.
If your baby is older than 7/8 weeks old, an older baby session will likely be more suitable for you. Click here to find out more about these sessions.

Within 1 week of your session you will receive your online gallery and choose which Collection you wish to purchase

Receive your final fully edited images 3 to 4 weeks later. Artwork, prints and albums have their own delivery timescales
